Altiris Enters Public Rollout Phase

Starting this week, Altiris, our workstation
management suite of products, will begin a more public rollout.
Specifically, we will install the Altiris Agent on each supported
computer. The agent serves as the gateway between the Altiris
servers and each computer. A few of the immediate benefits
realized from this installation include:

New remote control software: NetMeeting will be replaced
with Carbon Copy. Carbon Copy will allow both you and the technician
to have simultaneous access to the computer when troubleshooting problems, a
substantive improvement over NetMeeting

Platform to install application patches (in addition to
the Windows patches we already install)

Platform to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista

Integrated Help Desk environment: Integrates ticket
history with hardware configuration, real-time troubleshooting tools and
call history
Predictive and proactive monitoring tools:

Hard drive error reporting

Overheating notification
-
Automatic ticket generation when certain computer errors
occur

Memory size changes
-
Chassis intrusion notification
You will begin receiving e-mails that detail specific
installation steps. All will be automated and should not require any
on-site time for completion.
