E-Mail Servers Being Upgraded

Published: 08/30/2005

As first announced in the last newsletter, the Exchange e-mail servers are being upgraded.  A few users have been moved to the new server for testing purposes.  The testing has gone well and we will proceed with migrating everyone else.

The migration process requires little time per user .. just long enough to copy your mailbox from one server to another.  Depending on how many messages you have, this could take a couple minutes to about an hour.  We plan to do this work after hours until it is complete.  No reconfiguration or visits to your computer are required.  All work is done behind the scenes.  We plan to be complete within 2 months.

Most new functionality is administrative in nature except for one notable improvement -- the new version of Outlook Web Access (OWA).  When you visit the OWA web site after your migration, you will see:

The new OWA more closely emulates the Outlook program, which should make transitioning between the two more seamless than today.

Please contact Dudley Roach if you have any questions about this project.
