New Outlook Web Access to be Installed

Published: 07/12/2005

During the first two weeks of August, Systems Support staff will upgrade the Exchange e-mail servers to the latest version.  The most notable new feature will be an upgraded version of Outlook Web Access (OWA).

This new version will load quicker and more accurately reflect the full version of Outlook on your desktop.  We're confident you will enjoy this new version and hope you use it to perform all your messaging needs while away from the office.  Questions?  Contact Dudley Roach for assistance.

Windows XP Upgrades Continue

Published: 07/12/2005

The computer rebuilds from Windows 2000 to Windows XP are progressing.  Along with the conversions, we are simultaneously installing any new computers that were purchased at year-end.  The order we are visiting the departments corresponds directly to the order year-end purchases were made.  To date, we have converted and installed 300 computers, well on our way to 600.

This is arguably one of the most challenging projects for our office.  Rebuilding a computer is a disruptive process and it takes time to get everything back the way it was.  I encourage you to communicate early and often with the staff regarding any special applications, settings or needs.  The staff are extremely accommodating and will work with you to meet your specific needs.

Applications and data that are not business-related will be your responsibility to backup and restore.  Questions?  Contact Ballard McCleskey for assistance.

Reminder
Please keep your desktop computer and all computers in your department on at all times, even when out of the office for an extended period.  This will help us deliver critical updates in a timely manner.  As always, please turn off your monitors when leaving for the evening.  Laptops receive their updates during day, while on campus.
