Print to a Printer on the Network |
Printers that are on the network can be accessed by multiple people. Usually they are located in a common area so that print jobs can be retrieved by anyone.
Before You Begin
The network administrator needs to grant you security permission for the printer.
If you are off campus, you must connect to the Illinois State University network by establishing a VPN connection.
Find and Add a Printer
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type \\syssrv017 in the textbox. Click OK.
Double-click Printers and Faxes.
Locate the printer you would like to add.
Right-click the printer and click Connect.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 to add printers.
When you are finished adding printers, close the window.
View the Printers You Currently Have Connected
Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Printers and Faxes.
Set Your Default Printer
Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Printers and Faxes.
Locate the printer you would like to have as the default printer.
Right-click the printer and click Set as Default Printer.
When to use a Network printer
Send a Hard Copy directly to someone’s office – By connecting to a printer in a recipient’s office, they could pick up the hard copy from a nearby printer.
Print to an ISU printer while at home.
